Build a Bridge & Get Over It! Engineering Staff Help Develop The Next Generation

Riverina Water is proud to once again sponsor the 2026 Build a Bridge…& Get Over It! Engineering Camp thanks to REROC and Compact Inc., bringing together 24 enthusiastic students from across the Riverina to explore a future in Civil Engineering.

Day one set the tone, with students getting to know each other through team building activities before meeting the Engineers, Surveyors and Environmental Technicians who would guide them through the week. Day two saw the real excitement build, with Engineers working alongside each team to develop and refine their designs ahead of the final project pitch that evening and plenty of friendly competition over who would earn the title of project leaders for the big build.

Day three delivered the moment everyone had been working toward. Students put their skills to the test, constructing a full-scale bridge from the ground up. Drawing on the knowledge and hands-on experience gained across the first two days, they brought their technical plans to life applying surveying techniques, model design, and practical construction under real-world conditions.

A special thank you to Riverina Water's own Ryan Thompson and Robert Bruce, who volunteered their time at the camp. Their involvement made a real difference to the students' experience and is a great reflection of the commitment our team has to inspiring the next generation of engineers in our region.
